Nasrin Sultana

Professor

Nasrin Sultana is a Professor of Health Economics and currently serving as the Director at the Institute of Health Economics (IHE), University of Dhaka. She obtained her Ph.D. in Health Economics from the University of Dhaka. Previously, she obtained her BSS (Hons.) and MSS degree in Economics from the University of Dhaka. She has been teaching Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Public Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Research methodology at Postgraduate, and Undergraduate levels in the Institute of Health Economics, University of Dhaka. She is experienced in teaching and research in Economics and Health Economics related issues for more than 20 years. She has researched several issues including Maternal, neonatal, and child health, reproductive health, estimation of health care cost, health care financing, Public Expenditure Review (PER), quality of health care, local-level planning, fiscal space assessment of Health, Nutrition, and Population sector, health insurance scheme for the garment workers, micro health insurance scheme for delivery of health care, family planning spending assessment in Bangladesh, health and productivity of SME workers, feasibility study for the establishment of medical universities, and medical colleges in Bangladesh, costed implementation plan for family planning, ensuring a healthy environment for RMG workers during COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of COVID-19 on essential health services, etc. She has extensive research experience in working with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, local NGOs, and international donor agencies since 2000.
