Bangladesh has witnessed phenomenal growth in the economy recently, and the health sector has achieved some remarkable progress. The demand for health care services has been rapidly increasing with increased population and GDP per capita. To provide healthcare services to the increasing population efficiently with widening coverage and maximum possible equity, the use of knowledge of Health Economics is inevitable. Institute of Health Economics was established in 1998 with a view to contributing to build a healthy nation through an efficient, equitable, and sustainable health system based on academic and policy research. Since then, the IHE has been providing a relentless effort to produce graduates in Health Economics, to train health sector professionals, and most importantly, to help the nation by providing evidence for better sector policymaking. IHE also established itself as an epic center of research in Health Economics and health policy of the country as well as of South Asia. Their research work has achieved a lot of international attention. Of late, they have pioneered in introducing health insurance for their students. The knowledge gained from this initiative has paved the way for other departments and universities to follow suit. Along with excellence in teaching and research, IHE also involved with many extra-curricular activities. IHE has been serving the nation since its establishment and I hope they will do even better in near future.

I wish the IHE a great success
