BSS in Health Economics

The BSS (Honours) in Health Economics is a four-year, eight-semester programme admitting sixty students each year through the university’s admission tests. The programme requires the completion of 35 courses, including viva-voce, totalling 140 credit hours. The curriculum blends core economics with applied health-economics coursework, including Economics of Health Care, Health Care Financing, Economic Evaluation of Health Care, Structure and Management of Health Sector and Hospital Management. The BSS (Honours) degree also features an internship in the final year, giving students practical exposure to health-sector institutions and real-world policy settings. Students develop strong analytical, quantitative, and policy analysis skills, along with an understanding of health-system functioning. Graduates pursue careers in public health research, government and NGO programmes, health-sector consultancies, development organizations, and health-financing institutions, and are well-prepared for advanced studies in health economics, economics, public health, epidemiology, and related fields.
